Waiting on Wednesday: Requiem

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we can't wait to read!

My pick is Requiem by Lauren Oliver!

Goodreads summary:

Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancĂ©e of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

My thoughts:

Oh.  My.  Word.  I need this book, like, now!  I mentioned on my Top Ten Tuesday post yesterday that Lauren Oliver has a knack for creating torturous cliffhangers, and that got me thinking about how much I love her Delirium series and how much I need Requiem right now.

If you haven't read Delirium and Pandemonium, the first two in this trilogy, then you are missing out on some seriously amazing books.  Go read them!

Anyway, I'm freaking out with happiness over the fact that Requiem is told from both Lena anad Hana's POVs.  This.  Is.  Perfect.  I loved the short e-book that Lauren Oliver released from Hana's POV a while back, and I'm so excited that we get lots more of her in Requiem!

Also, I'm not sure what to think after the cliffhanger in Pandemonium.  Who will Lena end up with?!  It's driving me crazy!  Which guy do you like best - Alex or Julian?  While Julian is a great character, I personally prefer Alex!  He's so much more swoon-worthy. :) Post your thoughts in the comments and/or leave a link to your WoW!

  2. I haven't read Pandemonium yet and I am DYING. There's not enough time and I have soo many other books. To be honest I'm quite worried about this thing with Julian; when I first heard there was a love triangle I got concerned because I don't think one's necessary here. But I just can't wait to read it! Awesome pick. :)

    1. Aw, I bet you are dying! That cliffhanger in Delirium is so awful! I agree that the love triangle isn't really necessary, but I think the author pulled it off well. (But Alex is still WAY better than Julian! :D)

Nice WoW - thanks for sharing!

  4. I loved these books greatly! I'm also really excited to read the last book. I personally can't decide whether to pick Julian or Alex. It just doesn't seem fair to pick a guy when I love them both! Anyway, I am so agitated as well about the cliffhanger! I was screaming in misery and pacing for a while :D

    1. Me too! And it is hard to pick between Julian or Alex! I think Julian is a good character on his own, and Alex and Lena are better as a couple, IMO. :) Haha, I freaked out over the cliffhanger too!

      Nice WoW, thanks for sharing!
